2018: God Searching

banner

Welcome to 2018!

I’ve been journaling a bit more lately. Some would call it soul searching. I’d prefer to call it God searching. While I’ve been a Christian for sometime, my words and my actions didn’t always portray that fact. During college, I usually skipped church more than I went. Drank a bit more than I should. Lost touch of friends when I should’ve stood by their side. My priorities were off.

I’m starting to see that without God as the focal point of my life, my actions turn selfish, my words turn angry and my heart turns colder.

Now, I don’t want this to be just a realization. With thought needs to come action, thus I’ve been spending more time in the Bible, more time in prayer and less time trying to “get ahead” in life for my own purposes.

You might have noticed that my Instagram bio has changed, that I’ve been posting longer captions and more quotes. With a soul change comes a presence change. Partnering with my presence in real life, I’m changing my presence online as well. My goal is to inspire others to place God in the center of everything.

I’ve created a hashtag #DaughterInGrace. Feel free to use it when posting Bible verses, inspiring quotes or when reposting from this page. Christianity is a community. Let’s feed each other.

Below are a few quote graphics that I have made. Please repost if you feel that God is calling you to do so.

Bible Verses to Help Combat Loneliness and Strengthen Friendship

Bible on bench

Friendships are a tricky avenue of life. They ebb and flow, they grow strong, they break, they dissolve. Friends keep you on your toes. They make you think outside the box. Friends entertain, thrill, admonish and encourage.

Recently, I’ve moved to a brand new city for a job. People move time and time again, but I didn’t realize how different and perhaps lonely a new city could be. Now, I am extremely grateful to Jesus for bringing my college roommate and I together again in this new town. The housing hunt, move and day – to – day would be more difficult with someone I didn’t know.

For all of you out there in the same situation as me (a tad lonely, homesick and anxious) I have a few tidbits of hope for you. This isn’t a how – to list or a city guide, but a list of a few Bible verses about loneliness and friendship that can help you put this new stage of life into perspective.

Friendship

1 Corinthians 15:33 –  Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

Colossians 3: 12 – 14 – Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Proverbs 12:26 – The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

Loneliness

Deuteronomy 31:6 –  Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Psalm 25:16-17 – Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. Relieve the troubles of my heart and free me from my anguish.

1 Peter 5:6-7  Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

May God bless you my friends in your time of need. May He lift up your spirit and encourage your heart.
