Top 10 Things To Do This Fall

“I’m so glad to live in a world where there are Octobers.” – Anne of Green Gables

Fall is almost here! I’m so excited. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore summer, but there’s something about autumn.

Here are my top 10 things to do this fall:

  1. Pick a Pumpkin – I already have a date set to go with my sisters!
  2. Dance at Oktoberfest – Old St. Charles throws a huge festival right before Halloween.
  3. Plaid – I can’t wait to wear all. the. plaid.
  4. Go to a Bonfire – Who doesn’t like s’mores?
  5. Discover a new fall drink – I’ll be honest, I don’t like Pumpkin Spice Lattes (I know…). I need to find a cute little coffee shop where I can study.
  6. Run a 5k/10k – I’m currently injured, but I cannot wait to run a few races this year!
  7. Explore a new hiking trail – Lacing up my hiking boots just puts me in the right frame of mind.
  8. Trick-or-Treat – You’re never too old!
  9. Stand Outside a Haunted House – I have a fear of haunted houses, so maybe I’ll just stand outside?
  10. Last but not least…Cheer on my Indianapolis Colts during Sunday Night Football (see ya later, Rams)!

A Day in Traverse City

Traverse City, Michigan was recently voted the “Greatest Midwest Town” by Midwest Living magazine. After reading the article, I realized that I would be about an hour away from Traverse City while on vacation. I just had to visit.

Traverse City is BEAUTIFUL. Situated on the bay, it’s all sparkling water, soft sand and unique boutique shops.boating - Copy

My mom and I spent the afternoon strolling along the brick streets. We came across a little storefront that sold bath salts, essential oils and homemade candles. They had barrels of salts along the street for passerby to smell. My favorite was the lavender – so relaxing.

One of the best things Michigan offers is fresh cherries. Cherry Republic is an eatery, store and ice cream parlor that features every flavor of cherry. They also give unlimited free samples, so I would highly encourage stopping by. I ended up at the ice cream bar and ordered cherry ice cream in a waffle cone. Best decision I’ve ever made.

Traverse City may be a small town, but it’s jam-packed with beautiful scenery, delicious food and creative little shops. If you’re ever in the area, stop by for a day!
